William Shakespeare

Shakespeare is, of course, most associated with the Warwickshire town of Stratford-upon-Avon. The town is like a shrine to him with references everywhere. There are five "Shakespearean Properties" that you can visit in the area. These are: his Birthplace, Anne Hathaway's Cottage in Shottery (his wife's childhood home), Mary Arden's House (his mother's childhood home in Wilmcote), Hall's Croft (his daughter's marital home) and New Place (to which he retired - now only the foundations remain)

In addition to these five sites, you can see his grave in Holy Trinity Church on the banks of the Avon and see the school  it is assumed he must have attended as a boy

We normally incorporate a visit to a play at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre into our itineraries and the back stage tours of the theatre are also fascinating.

In London interest is based around the Globe Theatre and Museum and The Barbican Theatre, the RSC's London base. At the Globe, in addition to being able to watch Shakespeare in an authentic reconstruction of the original, Elizabethan theatre, we can arrange for your group to have their own acting workshop with one of the actors.
