Beatrix Potter

The Lake District in N.W.England is "Beatrix Potter Country". She used to take family holidays there from London and, in 1905, purchased Hill Top Farm in Near Sawrey. The house is now owned by the National Trust and it was the model for Tom Kitten's home and also  featured in Pigling Bland. The pub next door, the Tower Bank Arms is featured in Jemima Puddle Duck.

Beatrix Potter's husband was a solicitor in nearby Hawkshead and his office is now the Beatrix Potter Gallery which contains a selection of her original illustrations..

In Bowness-on-Windermere you can visit the World of Beatrix Potter Exhibition and in Keswick there is a multi-media exhibition entitled " Beatrix Potter's Lake District".

'Now run along, and don't get into mischief. I am going out.'
