Cathedrals and Theatre in England This tour was designed for a college group led by the theatre and religious studies professors and was a great success. It is a great introduction to England with emphasis, as the name of the tour suggests, on visits to England's great cathedrals and places of interest to theatre lovers. Highlights that other operators often do not include are the acting workshop at the Globe where the group has a chance to act on stage with a professional actor, the backstage tours, including prop rooms and wardrobes and the make-up demonstration where one group member had an axe wound put in his forehead! Day 1 IN FLIGHT Depart USA en route for London
Day 2 ARRIVE IN LONDON – SALISBURY (2 nights) Winchester Cathedral and castle
Day 3 DAY IN WILTSHIRE Salisbury Cathedral (tower tour), Stonehenge, Old Sarum
Day 4 SALISBURY – OXFORD – STRATFORD (3 nights) Walking tour of Oxford colleges including guided tour of Christ Church College, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage. RSC Theatre tickets in the evening
Day 5 SHAKESPEARE DAY Backstage tour of the RSC Theatre, Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Holy Trinity Church (Shakespeare’s grave), Hall’s Croft
Day 6 WARWICKSHIRE DAY Warwick Castle, Coventry Cathedral (old and new), Mary Arden’s House RSC Theatre tickets in the evening
Day 7 STRATFORD – LONDON ( 5 nights) Theatre Museum in Covent Garden with professional make-up demonstration West End theatre performance
Day 8 LONDON Westminster Abbey, Thames boat cruise from WestminsterPier to Tower Bridge, Tower of London West End theatre performance
Day 9 DAY TRIP TO ROCHESTER AND CANTERBURY Canterbury Cathedral and Canterbury Tales Exhibition, Rochester Cathedral, Charles Dickens’ House
Day 10 LONDON British Library, St.Paul’s Cathedral and Whispering Gallery, Backstage tour of a London theatre West End theatre performance
Day 11 LONDON Globe Theatre tour including acting workshop, Shopping time! West End theatre performance
Day 12 DEPARTURE Transfer to airport for flight back to the USA
