ROMAN YORK

History comes alive when students have the opportunity to see the sites and artifacts that relate what they have studied in the classroom.

We can design historical tours in Britain and on the continent  to complement any course of study.  The sample tour below is a trip taken each year by middle school students from a school near London.

Day 1 London - York (2 nights)

Our first visit is to the Yorkshire County Museum where we will see Roman, Viking and Anglo-Saxon artifacts, as well as the ruins of St. Mary’s Abbey ;  This evening we take a chilling ghost walk in the old streets of York.

Day 2  Brigantium Roman Fort
We will spend the day at  Murton Park where we will be Romans for a day, wearing the armor, using the weapons and eating the food of the legionaries as we guard our Brigantium Roman Fort. This evening, an expert on Roman Britain will lead us in an evening of Roman games and activities.  He will also bring real Roman artifacts that we can handle.

Day 3 York - London

We visit  Jorvik Viking Centre, a recreation of Viking Jorvik. Next we go to the Archaeological Research Centre where we will have a chance to examine real artifacts from the Viking period. Our final stop is magnificent York Minster.  We learn its history in the excellent Education Centre before taking a guided tour of the Minster
