Joie de Vivre This tour is a varied introduction to the charm of France and its attitude of "joie de vivre." We take you to a rich variety of sights from medieval monasteries and cathedrals to the Renaissance chateaux, through Impressionists haunts to the D-Day beaches. Then, of course, "We will always have Paris." (Did somebody say that in a movie?!). Le Louvre is the world's most famous art museum containing the world's most famous painting (that one with the girl smiling). The Eiffel Tower is arguably the world's most famous monument and just being in Paris, people watching from a pavement cafe, is a wonderful way to pass the time. Photo: Chartres Cathedral |

Day 1 FLIGHT Depart USA en route for Paris
Day 2 ARRIVE IN PARIS – CHARTRES – LOIRE VALLEY (2 nights) Chartres Cathedral, Maison Pic-assiette
Day 3 LOIRE VALLEY Chateau de Chenonceau, Abbaye de Fontevraud, Clos Luce (Leonardo’s last home)
Day 4 ST.MALO – MONT.ST.MICHEL (1 night) Chateau de Fougeres, St.Malo
Day 5 MONT ST.MICHEL – BAYEUX (2 nights) Mont St.Michel, Bayeux Tapestry
Day 6 BATTLE OF NORMANDY DAY Airborne Museum at Ste. Mere Eglise, Pointe du Hoc, American Cemetery at Omaha Beach, Battery at Longues-sur-Mer. Other sites depending on time or preference..
Day 7 BAYEUX – GIVERNY – AUVERS-SUR-OISE – PARIS (3 nights) (ART DAY) Monet’s House and garden at Giverny, Van Gogh’s last home at Auvers-sur-Oise plus Walking Tour of some of the scenes he painted (including the church and "Wheatfield with Crows")
Day 8 PARIS Le Louvre
Day 9 PARIS Cathedrale de Notre Dame
Day 10 DEPARTURE Transfer to airport for flight back to the USA
* There are so many exciting things one can do in Paris that we are reluctant to make concrete recommendations. We discuss preferences with each group leader before making suggestions to suit each individual group. We generally arrange the final evening’s meal for La Place du Tertre on Montmartre.
