A Sojourn in Barcelona

 

This tour is a good introduction to the city of Barcelona and all it has to offer. If  requested, we can include a language component for groups that are studying Spanish.

DAY 1  FLIGHT TO BARCELONA (4 nights)

Depart for Barcelona.  After checking into our hotel, we will take a Walking Tour of the Gothic Quarter, including the magnificent 13th century cathedral.  We will then visit the Picasso Museum, housed in a medieval palace.  This evening we will take a stroll along La Rambla, Barcelona’s liveliest and most famous street. 

 

DAY 2   BARCELONA

We will focus today on the architectural achievements of Antonio Gaudi, visiting the Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila and Parc Guell. 

 

DAY 3   BARCELONA AND MONTSERRAT

This morning we will visit the Fundacio Joan Miro, then spend some time at the Poble Espanyol, a fascinating village that displays the various architectural styles and crafts of Spain.  In the afternoon, we will travel into the mountains for a tour of the Monastery of Montserrat, Catalonia’s most famous shrine.

 

DAY 4   BARCELONA

We will visit the harbour area today, taking a sightseeing trip on a golondrina, one of the small boats that tour the harbour.  Next, we will visit the excellent aquarium on the waterfront.  This afternoon we will take a tour of famous Camp Nou, the home of Barcelona Football Club. 

 

DAY 5  DEPARTURE FROM BARCELONA

We transfer to the airport for the return flight.
